Location
Lagan Homes @ Wixams Village is situated between the A6 and B530, three miles to
the south-west of Bedford. Bedfordshire’s county town has a wealth of cultural and
leisure facilities and a go-ahead town centre, which is currently undergoing areas
of redevelopment.
Wixams consists of four garden 'villages' with open spaces, play areas and carefully
planned landscaping. With its own 'town centre', employment area, schools and leisure
facilities, Wixams has become a complete new community.
Wixams has some attractive countryside close by. Within easy reach are the Bromham
Lake Local Nature Reserve, Aspley Wood, the Whipsnade Estate and the Millennium
Country Parks.
Travel links are excellent as Wixams is within comfortable driving distance of Junction
10 of the A1 and Junctions 12 and 13 of the M1.
There are ideal main road links in all directions to the region’s major centres.
To the west the A421 links to Milton Keynes, one of the UK’s fastest growing cities.
Cambridge, to the east, is found via the A603, while Northampton is reached on the
M1. Luton and its airport can be readily accessed via the A6 to the south - a diverted
section of which actually backs onto Wixams.
Bedford Station is just ten minutes drive away, offering fast and frequent main
line rail services to London St. Pancras and Moorgate - and on to continental Europe
with Eurostar. The Bedford to London journey time is under an hour.
The Borough of Bedford has excellent educational facilities and is probably unique
in having four major public schools within its boundaries. The University of Bedfordshire
and nearby Cranfield University offer a wide range of degree tuition, while Bedford
College, on the banks of the River Great Ouse, provides a good choice of A-Level
and technical vocational courses.
