Lagan Homes Announces Key Appointments

02 July 2007

New homes building company Lagan Homes has made its first senior appointments with the arrival of Gerry Gardiner, who joins as Associate Commercial Director, and Stuart Pearson, who is to be the company’s Associate Technical Director.

Launched earlier in the year, Lagan Homes England, based in Banbury, is a division of the Belfast-based Lagan Group of companies, a privately owned construction and materials group with an annual turnover exceeding £400 million.  The new company is already achieving considerable success, having acquired three valuable residential development sites, and plans to begin building by early autumn.

Gerry Gardiner, 43, joins Lagan from Buckinghamshire-based building contractors Frank Wood, where he was Managing Director. He has also worked in the new homes industry for Barratt, Try and Heron Homes as well as for Tarmac.

Gerry’s role as Commercial Director will also include management of key aspects of the company’s construction operations as well as the engagement of vital suppliers and contractors to assist in the build process.

“This is certainly an exciting challenge and we’ve had to hit the ground running.  We need to engage a considerable number of key contractors and purchase a wide range of vital materials as soon as possible to ensure our build programme can proceed on schedule.  I’m confident this can be achieved and very much look forward to my new role.”

Stuart Pearson, 41, joins from Persimmon South Midlands where he was Technical Director.  He previously worked with Beazer Homes, McLean Homes and George Wimpey.

Says Stuart, “Joining Lagan Homes is an exciting opportunity to be in at the start of a company which is expected to become a key player in the new homes market within a relatively short time.  We aim to get production underway as soon as possible and a major priority will be to ensure our purchased sites achieve the required planning permissions to enable us to proceed.  A further element of my role is to oversee the development and evolution of the design of our new homes to ensure we are building appropriately for future customer need.”

Lagan Homes Managing Director John Lougher is delighted with his new appointments.  “It is a measure of both the established reputation of the Lagan Group and the early success of our new venture that I have been able to attract such experienced professionals as Gerry and Stuart.  These are key appointments and I’m very much looking forward to working with both of them.  We aim to continue to strengthen the management team as the company grows.”
