Lagan Homes is pleased to announce that planning permission has been granted for the development of 75 new 2,3,4 & 5-bedroom homes in Markfield Road, Ratby.
This marks the second phase of development by Lagan Homes in the area, following the ongoing construction of phase 1, Martinshaw Meadow.
The scheme will contribute to addressing the local housing needs, with 40% of the homes designated as affordable housing. This allocation includes a combination of ‘First Homes’, Affordable Rent homes, and either Shared Ownership or Discount Market Sale options.
Recognising the importance of investing in the local community, Lagan Homes will also be making significant contributions to local facilities. These contributions will support various community initiatives, including transportation improvements, healthcare enhancements, waste recycling facilities, and educational provisions.
The allocated community contributions include:
- Public transport and highways contribution – £88,879
- Local education contribution – £128,492
- Public realm – £91,629
- Healthcare contribution for improvements to Ratby Surgery – £33,966
Adrian Regan, land director at Lagan Homes, said: “We are delighted to have received approval for phase 2 and we want to thank Ratby Parish Council, Leicester Borough Council and Leicestershire County Council for their support. Ratby is a desirable area, in close proximity to the city of Leicester and the demand for homes on phase 1 remains strong.
There is a shortage in ‘First Homes’ county-wide and in phase 2 Lagan Homes look to address this need whilst being respectful to the Ratby village.
We are committed to contributing to the existing community and not only will Martinshaw Meadow, phase 1 and 2 deliver 165 new homes which will create local jobs as part of the construction, it will also help support local residents in getting their dream homes.”
Once complete Martinshaw Meadow will offer 165 new homes to the village and pledge over £880,000 in community contributions.
